When yellow journalism was at its prime every paper was focused on making the stories sensational. Sometimes in order to make stories sell better the reporters would exaggerate stories or even make up stories. The newspapers were more focused on entertainment than fact. This made papers less credible but in this era people didn’t really care, the people loved the stories and that’s why those papers became so popular. The formats of the papers were very different back then too. The headlines would take up half the page and there would be drawing or pictures to attract people passing b the newsstands. Yellow journalism became less popular by the twentieth century but definitely made a difference on journalism. Since the era of yellow journalism and sensationalism reporters in this day and age are more focused on facts and strive to be very accurate in what they write.
